Our Halloween snow arrived as scheduled in much of eastern Minnesota. The heaviest of sloppy wet October snow fell from west of the Twin Cities to the northeast through Sandstone and other Interstate 35 stops on the way to Duluth.

You can see a few totals on the snowfall map above.

More importantly, many locations recorded significant precipitation totals. Most of the precipitation fell as rain overnight in many areas. Most of it will soak into parched soils in the next couple of days. Many locations recorded 1 to 2 inches of moisture.

Here’s is a listing of the top precipitation totals:

More rain ahead

Our next weather systems roll into Minnesota this weekend. There is a chance of showers Saturday, but a better chance for multiple precipitation waves arrives Sunday through Tuesday.

On the map below, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s Global Forecast System model shows the rain waves moving into Minnesota between 7 p.m. Saturday and 7 a.m. Tuesday.

Forecast models crank out some impressive precipitation totals in the next week. NOAA’s Global Forecast System model is among the most aggressive right now suggesting 1 to more than 3 inches through next week.
