Areas of dense fog early Wednesday, then spotty sunshine returns

Temperatures warm to the mid-50s by Friday

Dense fog is expected early Wednesday morning, reducing visibility to less than one-quarter of a mile at times. Spotty sunshine will break through with mainly dry conditions. A pleasant warming trend will follow with temperatures reaching the mid-50s by Friday.

A Dense Fog Advisory has been issued until 10 a.m. Wednesday for much of central and southern Minnesota. Expect visibility to drop to one-quarter of a mile or less in some areas, making travel potentially hazardous at times.

Once the dense fog burns off early Wednesday we will be left with partial sunshine. Temperatures are expected to warm into the mid to upper 40s across the state.

Wednesday night will bring quiet, calm conditions with light winds. Lows are expected to dip into the low to mid-30s across the Twin Cities metro area.

Warming trend, spotty rain

Looking ahead, we can expect above-average temperatures with highs reaching the lower to mid-50s by Friday. This warmer trend is expected to continue through the weekend.

Our next chance for precipitation arrives late Saturday night into Sunday morning. However, rainfall amounts are expected to be light with totals likely staying under one-quarter of an inch. Showers will be intermittent and primarily impact the eastern two-thirds of the state.
