Sunshine early Monday will quickly give way to afternoon clouds and rain late in the day. Significant rain is likely nearly statewide with rain turning to snow for some.
Soggy Monday night and Tuesday on the way
Enjoy some morning sunshine Monday — it won’t last long. A rapidly developing storm system to the southwest is pushing clouds and rain north through the day Monday. The afternoon will be cloudy but mild.
Highs Monday will be mostly 50 or warmer for most of the state, keeping precipitation in the form of rain Monday night into most of Tuesday.
Rain showers will reach Interstate 90 by early afternoon Monday and spread north to the Twin Cities by late afternoon and St. Cloud by evening. The rain will continue north overnight into early Tuesday.

Most of the moisture will be north Tuesday with rain turning to snow in northwestern Minnesota late Tuesday.
A widespread soaking of needed rain is likely for most of Minnesota. Much of the state will see at least 1 inch of rain with some places picking up 2 or 3 inches in isolated pockets.
Snow looks most likely in the northwest with some slushy accumulation in central and northeastern Minnesota by Wednesday into Thursday.
The rest of the week is colder with temperatures mostly in the 30s to near 40 degrees, which is only slightly below normal for this period of the month. The pattern remains active into next week with another system possible over the weekend.
