Snow wraps up for northern Minnesota Monday morning with possible snow showers south. Colder air will start to move in later Monday with subzero temps statewide by Wednesday night.
Lingering snow showers with colder air moving in
The most recent snowfall for northern Minnesota will wrap up during the morning Monday. Silver Bay picked up 8.8 inches of fresh snow with Grand Marais receiving 8.5 inches and Ely getting 6.3 inches.
Scattered snow showers will be possible in central and southern Minnesota by midday Monday and into the afternoon as the first of two cold fronts moves through. Some of those snow showers may be mixed with rain. A second cold front Tuesday will touch off more snow showers late in the day into Tuesday night.
Additional snowfall totals will range from a few inches near the international border to a dusting or coating in southern Minnesota into early Wednesday.

Winter storm warnings and winter weather advisories in the northern corners of the state continue through the morning hours Monday.
Highs Monday will be in the morning in northwest Minnesota and midday south as colder air starts to advance. By Monday afternoon, temperatures will dip into the teens in northwest Minnesota. It will be mild still to the south with highs in the 30s to near 40.
Tuesday will be colder with highs mainly in the teens and 20s, but it will be even colder Wednesday and Thursday as another cold front moves through late Tuesday.
Wednesday night will be below zero across all of Minnesota in the wake of a second blast of cold air. For most, it will be the first time this season.
Highs Thursday will be just in the single digits and even subzero north.
The cold won’t last too long. Southern Minnesota will already see highs in the 30s by the weekend once again.
