Two St. Paul parents were arrested Wednesday in connection with their toddler’s death. Police said the child’s death may have involved drugs.
St. Paul police said officers found the 1 1/2-year-old child unresponsive Wednesday afternoon at a home on 1000 block of Fifth Street East, in the city’s Dayton’s Bluff neighborhood. The child was later pronounced dead at Regions Hospital.
“Preliminary information indicates narcotics may have played a role in the child’s death,” St. Paul police reported. Authorities said no further information was available while the investigation continues.
A 38-year-old man and 31-year-old woman are in custody pending formal charges. The name of the child has not been released.
