Showers into Saturday
Dense fog advisories remain in effect for portions of the state until midnight. Areas of fog are expected to persist into Saturday morning.
Late December rain showers will increase Friday night into Saturday as a storm system moves from Iowa into the western Great Lakes bringing steady moisture.
Another storm system in the northern Rockies will push the current weather pattern eastward, resulting in heavier rainfall across eastern Minnesota and Wisconsin.

As colder air wraps around the system, northeastern Minnesota could see less than an inch of wet, slushy snow.
Low temperatures drop into the lower to mid-30s for eastern Minnesota, with mid-20s in northwestern Minnesota.
Weekend glance
Our weather pattern continues with mild, overcast conditions this weekend. High temperatures for both Saturday and Sunday show highs in the 40s for the metro area and south.
Rain showers will taper off by midday Saturday, with lingering rain and snow showers continuing in the Arrowhead region.
After a dreary holiday week, Sunday may bring a welcome break with some sunshine starting to peek through! We’ll start to see clearing from west to east, lasting into Monday.
A cold front will move through late Monday, dropping temperatures back below freezing. The New Year will begin with highs in the mid-20s, around the seasonal average. Temperatures will remain below freezing through the end of next week.
