We'll ring in the new year with below-average temperatures, ranging from the teens to single digits. As the weekend approaches, temperatures will continue to fall, with highs expected to be at least 10 degrees below the seasonal average.

Overall, quiet conditions are expected across the state for New Year's Eve. Lows will dip into the teens for central and southern Minnesota, while northern parts of the state will experience single-digit temperatures.

With a west-northwest wind ranging from 5 to 15 mph, wind chill temperatures around midnight will fall below zero in the northwest, and into the teens in the southeast.
