A high-pressure system is bringing clear skies and calm conditions, but also bitterly cold wind chills. Cold weather advisories are in effect for the northern areas, where wind chills are expected to plummet to 20s and 30s below zero.
Cold weather advisory
Northern Minnesota is under a cold weather advisory until Sunday morning, with dangerously cold wind chills reaching 30 below zero. Exposed skin could experience frostbite in less than 10 minutes due to the extreme cold.
Low temperatures tonight plummet below zero for a large majority of the state. Northwestern Minnesota will see temperatures in the 20s below zero.

When we factor in the light northwest winds, our wind chill map will show more intense cold, with areas shaded in purple. Wind chills on Sunday morning are expected to range from the teens to 30s below zero.
Sunday's highs will be similar to Saturday's, with temperatures only reaching the single digits and teens.
Arctic high pressure will continue to bring clear skies and keep the active weather to our south.
Late next week, a clipper system may move through the area, but we'll need some moisture to generate some snow.
A slight warming trend is on the way, with temperatures expected to return to seasonal levels in the 20s by late next week.
