Light snow, then cold air for southern Minnesota
Light snow is developing and expanding across southern Minnesota through the morning hours and midday Wednesday on the northern edge of a big storm well to our south and southeast.

Most accumulations of any significance will be limited to the far southeastern corner of the state where 2 or 3 inches could fall. In the Twin Cities we’ll likely only see a dusting.

It will be just a slightly warmer Wednesday with highs closer to 10 degrees for parts of southern Minnesota. That’s still nearly 20 degrees below normal for the date.

Look for another cold night Wednesday night as frigid air again sneaks in behind the storm to our south. Lows will be well below zero with more 20s below zero north. Wind chills will be as cold as 20 to 40 below zero.

More snow is possible Friday into Saturday and it will be briefly warmer Friday afternoon. This looks increasingly likely to be a plowable snow for eastern Minnesota into Friday night.
Be aware the snowfall total below includes snowfall for Wednesday in addition to Friday-Saturday, so deduct today’s couple of inches in southeastern Minnesota:

Colder air again plunges into the state Sunday and early next week yet again! Prepare for more frigid days and subzero nights into the middle of next week.
