Winter storm warnings and winter weather advisories are in effect for the northern parts of the state as an approaching storm system moves in from the Dakotas. In addition to the rain, snow and icy conditions, increasing southwesterly winds have led to a wind advisory being issued for Sunday, with gusts expected to exceed 50 mph.
Spring storm for Saturday night
Multiple warnings and advisories are in effect for the northern sections of the state as the next weather system brings a mix of rain and snow Saturday night.

The heaviest precipitation is expected late Saturday night and into Sunday, with the highest snowfall totals likely to occur north of Highway 2 and along the North Shore.

There is a potential for a brief period of freezing rain early Sunday morning, with minimal accumulations of up to 0.10 inches. This light glaze could create some travel concerns, particularly on untreated roads and surfaces.

This Alberta clipper will move out by Monday morning, bringing an end to the snow. Sunshine will return, and winds will gradually decrease throughout the day.

Low temperatures will drop into the mid to upper 30s for the Twin Cities and areas to the south. To the north, temperatures will dip into the low 20s, with teens expected along the North Shore, where the precipitation will be ongoing.

Winds will remain very gusty into Sunday, especially across western Minnesota, where gusts could exceed 50 mph. A wind advisory has been issued for Sunday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
