Our next storm system is set to impact northern Minnesota from late Saturday night through Monday morning. The Twin Cities will see minimal impact, with a mix of rain and snow expected. Breezy winds will persist throughout the weekend until the system moves out.

A mix of snow and rain will begin late Saturday night, eventually transitioning to all snow. The heaviest precipitation is expected north of Highway 2, with the North Shore receiving the highest totals.

Freezing rain is possible early Sunday morning, with amounts up to 0.10 inches, which could lead to some travel disruptions.

Winter storm warnings will be in effect from 3 a.m. Sunday to 7 a.m. Monday, with winter weather advisories in effect from 3 a.m. Sunday to 1 p.m. Monday.

Areas south of Interstate 94 can expect light rain showers to develop, with less than an inch of snow accumulation possible as snow mixes in at times.

Increasing southwesterly winds will develop ahead of the low-pressure system, with gusts potentially reaching 30-35 mph.


Temperatures are expected to warm into the upper 40s to low 50s. Areas in southeastern Minnesota with a fresh snowpack will remain cooler, in the mid-40s. Central regions will see upper 30s to low 40s, while the Northland will stay cooler, with temperatures ranging from the upper 20s to low 30s.

Saturday night will bring lows in the mid to upper 30s for metro areas to the south, while northern regions will dip into the low 20s, with teens along the North Shore.
