Minnesota sugar beet growers brace for the possible return of a devastating disease

A sugar beet field severely infected with Cercospora leaf pot is found in a field by Breckenridge, Minn., on Sept. 15, 2025. As older infected leaves die and fall off, the plant produces new leaves, resulting in reduced sugar content in the roots. The disease also reduces farmers' yields.
