The parents of Alex Pretti ripped the federal government Tuesday for its response to their son’s fatal shooting in January by federal agents in Minneapolis and called for the agents who shot him to be held accountable.
Federal officials, “have ignored us, misled us and shielded Alex's killers,” Michael Pretti told reporters.
He said Minnesota U.S Attorney Dan Rosen has “stonewalled us for nine months, refusing to share a single update of any kind” on the federal investigation into Alex’s killing, adding that Rosen’s “only words have been, ‘I can't tell you.’”
“The federal government went on TV and lied about Alex. They tried to slander his memory to cover up their crime. Not only was it wrong, it was shameful, unfair and unacceptable,” Susan Pretti said.

“We don't want to be on TV and we don't want to become political activists,” she added. “All we want is justice for Alex. We are here today to simply request the federal government to treat us with the dignity and respect out son deserved.”
In recent court filings, state officials said the federal government has stopped sharing evidence with Minnesota authorities investigating the killing of Pretti — as well as the killing of Renee Good, who was fatally shot by an Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent in early January as federal agents flooded the Twin Cities.
“No family should have to beg someone in the federal government to do their job,” Pretti family attorney Steve Schleicher told reporters Tuesday. “Stop being the Department of Obstruction and begin being the Department of Justice.”
