In his new book, “The New Climate War: The Fight to Take Back Our Planet,” climate scientist Michael Mann looks at the emerging tactics fossil fuel interests are using to obstruct broad policy shifts that are our surest bet to avoid the worst consequences of climate change.
“Climate change denial is no longer tenable. Fossil fuel interests and those who have done their bidding — those forces of inaction, the inactivists as I call them — they recognize that they can’t credibly claim that climate change isn’t real, that it isn’t human caused, and that it isn’t doing real damage now,” Mann told MPR News chief meteorologist Paul Huttner.
“So they’ve turned to other tactics in an effort to delay that necessary transition away from fossil fuels.”
On Climate Cast, Mann discussed his new book and how the incoming Biden administration can move a broad policy agenda.
