Brainerd residents work to save city's iconic yet crumbling water tower

Minnesotans have a certain love for small-town water towers. The @mnwatertowers Twitter account has 1,300 followers, and it’s maintained by MPR News editor Andrew Kreuger, who loves taking photos of the landmark.

One water tower that’s been getting some attention lately is Brainerd’s. Sadly, the iconic tower — some say it looks like Paul Bunyan’s flashlight — is crumbling, and a committee of residents is trying to raise money to save it from demolition.
