A holiday music collection from Mankato embodies the Christmas spirit

Every day on Minnesota Now, we play music that hails from the Land of 10,000 Lakes. Monday’s song was “It’s Christmastime,” a single from the “River City Holiday, Volume 2” collection. Spearheaded by Precious Metals Records and the Mankato Free Press, the album features all original music by Mankato-area artists.

This year’s album is raising money to help CADA, a nonprofit organization serving victims and survivors of relationship abuse and sexual violence throughout south-central Minnesota.

The inaugural collection, released last year, proved so popular, the Free Press had to print extra copies. It raised more than $3,000 to help Minnesotans experiencing homelessness. It also earned the Free Press an award for community leadership from the Minnesota Newspaper Association.
