You may have heard of Catholic Charities Twin Cities. But do you know what it does?  

The nonprofit organization has religious roots in Minnesota dating back more than 150 years. Today, it’s one of the largest providers of services and shelter for people experiencing homelessness. 

MPR News host Angela Davis talks with Catholic Charities CEO Michael Goar about his remarkable journey from an orphanage in South Korea to his longtime work in public education to leading an organization that’s helping a growing number of people struggling to meet their basic needs.

  • Michael Goar has been the president and CEO of Catholic Charities Twin Cities since 2021. Before that he served five years as CEO of Big Brothers Big Sisters Twin Cities, the nonprofit organization matching youth with adult mentors. He spent more than 15 years in executive positions with public schools here and in other states, including interim superintendent of Minneapolis Public Schools.
