This year’s list of new foods for the Great Minnesota Get-Together is an eclectic mix, as always, with creative inventions like deep-fried ranch, lobster éclair and a focaccia ice cream sandwich. But are they worth waiting in line for.

Food critic Dara Moskowitz Grumdahl has been writing about the best and worst of State Fair cuisine since 1995. This year, she said, is a post-COVID rebuilding year with some hits, lots of misses and one fun surprise: beer slushies. She shared her take on new foods during a special Minnesota State Fair edition of Appetites with guest host Emily Bright.
