Meet Lorna Benson
Lorna Benson is a deputy managing editor at MPR News. She manages the regional team, which includes reporters and editors who work in bureaus across Minnesota and in St. Paul. She also oversees the MPR News politics team.
Lorna got her start as a reporter at a MPR bureau station in St. Peter, covering health care and the environment. She also hosted the regional edition of “All Things Considered” for six years. Lorna has been a deputy managing editor since 2017.
Lorna was honored with a national Investigative Reporters and Editors Award for "Toxic Traces Revisited," a series that examined the state's response to water contamination caused by perfluorinated chemicals.
Lorna has a double major in political science and public communication from Luther College in Decorah, Iowa. She loves old houses and has been working for years to remove layers of paint on the hot water radiators in her 1923 American Foursquare.
