As the number of COVID-19 cases grows and throws curves at large event plans, masks at the Minnesota State Fair are likely to be more common than believed even a few weeks ago. With a scheduled open on Aug. 26, fair officials have not yet made decisions on restrictions or mask requirements, but there's growing concern among health experts about gatherings of large groups of people, even outdoors. The investigation continues into a Saturday plane crash that killed three people in Carver County. The plane crashed and burst into flames at about 5:40 p.m. Saturday near a home in Victoria, Minn. Gov. Tim Walz says he wants to include an aid package for farmers in the special legislative session next month. The question of who should be eligible for special pandemic hazard pay remains a difficult one for a Minnesota panel working to set parameters. The Frontline Worker Pay Working Group must decide how strict or how loose the criteria are. That recommendation to the Legislature will dictate the size of checks from a $250 million fund.
