Minnesota’s COVID-19 case numbers continued their climb Monday, as the University of Minnesota’s Board of Regents approved a proposal to delay in-person classes for students on some of its campuses. According to the plan, nearly all undergraduate classes on three of the university’s campuses — in the Twin Cities, Rochester and Duluth — will now begin online for at least the first two weeks of school this fall. The fall semester might begin even more differently than expected this year for undergraduates on several University of Minnesota campuses. University of Minnesota President Joan Gabel announced Friday that she’s proposing that three of the U’s campuses — in the Twin Cities, Rochester and Duluth — begin classes online for at least the first two weeks of school this fall. Just over half of the 46 districts surveyed by the Association for Metropolitan Area School Districts will bring students back to in-person classes in some capacity. Minnesota's jobless numbers continued to fall last month, but remain considerably higher than before the coronavirus pandemic began.  According to new data released Thursday by the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development, the state's seasonally adjusted unemployment rate fell to 7.7 percent in July, down from 8.6 percent in June.
