Q: What are they?
A: Gatherings of people who live in the same area and belong to the same political party meet to talk issues and choose candidates. They also cast a straw ballot expressing gubernatorial preferences.
Q: Who can take part?
A: Anyone can watch, but to take part you need to be eligible to vote on Nov. 7 and have an affiliation with the political party.

Q: What if I have to work that night?
A: Under state law you can take time out without pay to attend a caucus as long as you gave at least 10 days notice.

A: It could be a day or two before full results are in. But they can be found at the secretary of state Web site.
