April Snow
More than two feet of snow fell on northern Minnesota.

Northern Minnesotans were just getting used to seeing brown grass in their yards again when the storm dropped close to a foot of snow overnight Saturday.

A second band swept through Sunday afternoon when snow was falling at a rate of one to two inches per hour.

The National Weather Service reports Cass Lake received more than 27 inches. Grand Rapids got 25 inches, and depths in the Arrowhead region ranged from 24 inches in Chisholm to 19 inches in Tower.

Dozens of schools are closed Monday. Some county offices in the hardest hit areas are also shut down.

Law enforcement officials say roads were hazardous and dozens of vehicles were in ditches across the region. I-94 west of Alexandria was closed for a time, but reopened Monday morning.
