Minnesota stamp — To celebrate Minnesota's sesquicentennial, the United States Postal Service unveiled a Minnesota stamp during a ceremony this morning on the grounds of the state Capitol building.

The Sesquicentennial Commission has unveiled a new U.S. Postal Service stamp commemorating Minnesota's 150 years of statehood.

The state's official birthday was last weekend. but the celebrations continue at the state Capitol.

Organizers estimate that attendance for this weekend's events could top 25,000.

Congresswoman Betty McCollum, D-4th Dist., helped dedicate the new postage stamp.

"Pioneers, immigrants, traders, farmers, loggers, miners, factory workers -- their toil, their courage, their vision have become our inheritance," Congresswoman McCollum said. "Because of their contributions, the Minnesota of 2008 continues to be a place of opportunity, new beginnings and endless possibilities."

The events Saturday included dozens of food vendors and a flyover of vintage aircraft.

Tonight will include fireworks and a ceremony honoring Minnesota's armed forces.
