The Robbinsdale School District has named its replacement for retiring superintendent Stan Mack.
This will be the first superintendent's job for Aldo Sicoli, who is currently an assistant superintendent in the Burnsville-Eagan-Savage district.
Sicoli said Robbinsdale, like Burnsville, faces declining enrollment -- which directly translates to fewer state dollars.
"The community supporting the referendum; making the difficult decision recently to close three schools -- things like that have set them in a stronger financial position," Sicoli said. "But I think all districts are looking at potential financial challenges given the state budget situation."
Sicoli, 49, has a long history in Minnesota schools. He has taught and coached in Roseville, Waseca and Minnehaha Academy in Minneapolis.
Sicoli had been a principal at schools in West St. Paul and Edina before taking the Burnsville job three years ago.
