Republican congressman John Kline today was elected the ranking GOP member of the House Education and Labor Committee. Kline said the committee will debate a number of major issues ranging from the No Child Left behind law to employer-employee relations.

"We deal in this committee with issues such as the Employee Free Choice Act, the so called card check bill, which I think is very bad legislation taking away the secret ballot in union organizing elections," Kline said.

Kline said the committee agenda will be set by its Democratic chairman, George Miller of California. Kline said he expects to disagree with Miller on most issues before the committee but believes they can work together in a bipartisan fashion.
