Minnesota House Speaker Margaret Anderson Kelliher, DFL-Minneapolis, has appointed the members of a jobs task force that will make recommendations to the full House in the 2010 session.
In a news release issued today, Kelliher said the bipartisan panel will focus on economic development, capital investments and tax policies that will create significant job growth for Minnesotans.
"We received some encouraging news today as Minnesota's unemployment rate actually dropped a bit, but we know job recovery is often one of the latest indicators to rebound in a recession," Kelliher said. "That is why we will continue to make job creation a top priority in the Minnesota House."
Three current House committee chairs -- Rep. Alice Hausman (capital investment), Rep. Ann Lenczewski (taxes) and Rep. Tom Rukavina (higher education and workforce development) -- will lead the task force effort.
The other members are Representatives Sarah Anderson, Karla Bigham, Robin Brown, Mark Buesgens, Lyndon Carlson, Randy Demmer, Denise Dittrich, Keith Downey, Patti Fritz, Bob Gunther, Jeff Hayden, Larry Howes, Gail Kulick Jackson, Al Juhnke, Jeremy Kalin, Diane Loeffler, Tim Mahoney, Sandra Masin, Carol McFarlane, Denny McNamara, Terry Morrow, Joe Mullery, Michael Nelson, Kim Norton, Mike Obermueller, Michael Paymar, Paul Rosenthal, Bev Scalze, Tony Sertich, Linda Slocum, Loren Solberg, Phillip Sterner and Jean Wagenius.
