Cyclist struck and killed by car in Blaine

Anoka County authorities say a bicycle rider has been struck and killed by a car.

Sheriff's deputies say the cyclist was trying to cross County Road 10 in Blaine on Friday about 8:00 p.m. Deputies say the victim died at the scene.

Authorities say the cyclist was a 55-year-old Fridley man. His name has not been released.

Sheriff's detective Pat Nelson says the driver was a 51-year-old man, also from Fridley. Nelson says the driver waited at the scene for police and consented to a blood test.

Nelson says it's too early to say who was at fault.

He says the medical examiner is expected to release the bicyclist's name by Monday.
