Once again the state is facing a projected budget deficit, and once again, Gov. Tim Pawlenty has targeted Local Government Aid for cuts.
LGA is money the state sends to cities and counties to help them pay for local services. Pawlenty says he may even use his so-called unallotment authority to unilaterally reduce LGA payments scheduled for this month.
Rod Otterness is the city administrator for International Falls. LGA makes up a third of his city's budget, and he joins me by phone.
