The North American Bear Center in Ely captured a first today — the birth of a live black bear cub — and streamed it across the Internet to tens of thousands of viewers.
In case you missed the birth of Bear Jr. at 11:38 a.m. this morning, here's a replay.
Researchers are still trying to figure out if Lily gave birth to a second cub. Here's the latest update from the bear's Facebook page:
Lots of discussion about whether there are 2 cubs -- but we can't confirm it yet. Things to listen for are 2 high cub voices crying together -- or one high cub voice crying and one suckling at the same time. Be careful not to confuse Lily's grunting with the cubs voices.
