1) Take that, Stanford: Our women golfers aren't fools. The ones at Gustavus Adolphus and Concordia University had higher cumulative GPAs than their counterparts at both the elite California college and Northwestern.

2) No smoke here: South Central College has gone tobacco-free on both its Faribault and North Mankato campuses, making it the 11th campus to do so in the state system of colleges and universities.

3) New Duluth boss: Patrick Johns, former chief of Anoka-Ramsey Community College, is the new president of Lake Superior College in Duluth.

4) Rebuilding the campus: Repairs to the buildings on the campus of the Minnesota State Community and Technical College in Wadena, which were damaged by June 17 tornado, should be done by late August -- in time for the fall term.
