An island in the Chippewa River near Eau Claire, Wis., has come loose and slid up against the North Crossing bridge.
City officials say the island is resting against the area of the primary water main, which runs along the bridge. That water main feeds the west side of Eau Claire.
City crews were monitoring that line on Thursday. If it breaks, or something else serious happens, officials will be able to shut it down.
Public works officials say they can also service the west side other ways, and backup lines are available, if needed.
