Former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich will be in Minnesota Wednesday to raise money for Republican Tom Emmer's campaign for governor.
Gingrich, who was the architect of the 1994 "Contract with America," will hold a private fundraiser for Emmer in downtown Minneapolis. Donors are being asked to give $1,000 to attend the fundraiser.
Emmer said he's excited to meet Gingrich because they share a vision of smaller government.
"Newt Gingrich is one of those people that is not only a national spokesperson but perhaps he's known even worldwide as a national policy leader and somebody who carries that message of good government, smaller government, that delivers what people expect while at the same time not killing the American dream," Emmer said.
The Gingrich fundraiser comes one day after Vice President Joe Biden was in Minnesota to raise money for Democrat Mark Dayton. Biden also held a campaign rally for Dayton at Macalester College.
