Gov. Mark Dayton signed legislation into law Thursday that requires more CPR training for child-care providers.
The measure, known as "Hannah's Law," is named after 4-year-old Hannah Kozitza, who died after choking on a grape at a North Mankato day care center.
From now on, all child care teachers, assistants and other staff must have CPR training.
Rep. Mary Liz Holberg, R-Lakeville, said the law provides needed continuity for all types of child-care facilities.
"If a similar situation presents itself, hopefully those in the room will be assured and have the training to react appropriately and swiftly to avoid another tragedy, such as occurred with Hannah," she said.
The legislation passed unanimously in both the House and Senate.
