Make a Donation
The City of Minneapolis is asking for donations of funds and not goods. The Minneapolis Foundation has established the Minnesota Helps - North Minneapolis Recovery Fund to assist with both short-term and long-term housing and recovery-related needs on the North Side. To make a donation by credit card, visit www.GiveMN.org or send checks for the recovery effort to The Minneapolis Foundation, 80 S. 8th St., Suite 800, Minneapolis, MN, 55402.
The Red Cross is accepting donations for its Disaster Relief Fund. Donations help provide shelter, food and other assistance to victims of disasters. Please do not donate goods at this time. Donors can also text the word REDCROSS to 90999 to make a $10 donation.

Twin Cities Habitat for Humanity is looking for volunteers to help with the rebuilding process once the initial cleanup phase is over. More information is available on their website or email volunteer@tchabitat.org
Donate Furniture
Bridging, a nonprofit that provides furniture and household goods to low-income residents, plans to help those affected by the Minneapolis tornado. The group is asking for donations of new or quality, gently used furniture and household goods. Items can be dropped off at Bridging's Bloomington site (201 W. 87th St., Bloomington) or Roseville site (1633 Terrace Drive, Roseville). The group will also pick up items for a fee, starting at $75. Donate Clothing
The Kidz Klozet, a northeast Minneapolis-based charity, provides free clothing for children. Group organizers said they're anticipating increased demand from families affected by the storm. You can donate clothing at one of six drop-off sites in the metro area. Kidz Klozet organizers are asking for as many donations as possible before it opens again on June 2.
Participate in the North Side Volunteer Clean-Up Day
Volunteers are needed for the Saturday, June 4 clean-up day. Those who want to participate must register in advance by calling 311 or 612-673-3000. City officials hope to mobilize 2,000 volunteers on June 4 to help clear light debris from the tornado-damaged neighborhood.
Donate Food
A local nonprofit group reported an immediate need for nonperishable food items Friday. EMERGE Community Development has been distributing food to residents of the tornado-damaged areas.
"Due to the overwhelming need of the community, and the inability for people to travel to sites where these services may be available, we have had an overwhelming response for items to be delivered directly to the homes of these families," the group said in a news release Friday. "Our resources for nonperishable food items and household cleaning supplies have been depleted."
Donations of nonperishable food items and cleaning supplies can be dropped off at the Shiloh Temple at 1201 W. Broadway Ave, Minneapolis, every day until 6 p.m. The phone number for Shiloh Temple is 612-302-1463.
