MPR's Cathy Wurzer spoke with Annette Atkins who teaches history at St. John's University and the College of St. Bennedict about Hubert Humphrey. They met at Humphrey's grave in Minneapolis to mark the 100th anniversary of his birth which is today. Humphrey began his political career when he was elected mayor of Minneapolis in 1945. Atkins says Humphrey accomplished a great deal in just four years as mayor, and that led to greater things.
