A Twin Cities woman is charged with murder for allegedly injecting her husband with heroin this summer.
The Hennepin County Attorney's office charged 29-year-old Melanie Razo of Eden Prairie with third-degree murder Tuesday. The charges were not made public until Razo was arrested on a warrant Wednesday night.
Police were called to Razo's home on July 6 and found her husband unconscious on the basement floor. She told police she had bought heroin and injected her husband with the drug.
An autopsy found the cause of death was mixed drug toxicity of heroin and a blood-alcohol concentration of 0.10 percent.
Razo remained in the Hennepin County Jail on Thursday, with bail set at $500,000.
