Legal measures to block a new Vikings stadium could be considered if the site on nearby Linden Avenue is chosen, says the pastor of the Basilica of St. Mary in Minneapolis.
Pastor John Bauer reiterated his opposition to the proposed Linden Avenue site at a press conference Wednesday. Earlier in the day, Gov. Mark Dayton said the site may be a better choice than the Metrodome because it is closer to Target Field, Target Center, and downtown restaurants and bars.
Bauer said there is no way to adequately address the Basilica's concerns about noise, traffic flow, and how historic buildings will be affected.
"It is their opinion that any concerns we have in regard to a stadium at that site are manageable," Bauer said. "In response to this, we want to be clear: we don't believe our concerns are manageable."
Dayton said he could not choose between the Minneapolis sites, Arden Hills and Shakopee because none of the proposals are complete.
