Two Republican candidates have dropped their bids to challenge U.S. Sen. Amy Klobuchar in November.
Anthony Hernandez of St. Paul says Monday he'll seek the GOP endorsement to run against U.S. Rep. Betty McCollum of St. Paul instead. Another Republican, Dan Flood, is also running to be Republican candidate in McCollum's 4th Congressional District.
St. Bonifacius City Councilman Joe Arwood also dropped out of the Senate race Monday. He says in a message on his Facebook page that the financial demands and time commitment of running were taking a toll on his family.
That leaves former state representative Dan Severson and perennial candidate Harold Shudlick in the Senate race. Another candidate, U.S. Army Capt. Pete Hegseth, also says he's running and plans a campaign kickoff later this week.
