Some Duluthians wait as road access is restored

Residents on a quarter-mile stretch of Duluth's Skyline Parkway are hoping their homes will be accessible by road again as soon as Tuesday.
Crews installed a new culvert and were filling a washout with a steady stream of dump trucks hauling dirt into the area tonight. Damage to a 100-foot section of the street prevented residents from getting to or from their homes by vehicle.
Duluth resident Buck Stover watched the crews fill in the gap, left by flood waters last week.
Well, we're kind of enjoying it. I am. I'm retired and I got to go fishing here the other day and got out of here. Other than that, it hasn't been that bad," Stover said. " Neighbors get together and had a party and a bunch of stuff. You know there's 13 families that live in here.
Other roads, including U.S. 2 at the top of Duluth's Thompson hill remain barricaded because of flood damage. City officials said it could take all summer to make complete repairs to the streets and roads in the area.
