Another place where influenza can have a huge effect is in nursing homes and other long-term care facilities.
Adults over 65 years old are more vulnerable to becoming seriously ill from the flu. And, 59 long-term care facilities have reported flu outbreaks to the Minnesota Department of Health so far this flu season.
MPR News speaks with Claudia Miller, epidemiologist and head of Vaccine, Preventable Disease, and Surveillance at Minnesota Department of Health.
