The candidates for mayor of Minneapolis will try to win over African-American voters in a debate at 3 p.m. Sunday.
Moderator Al McFarlane, editor-in-chief of Insight News, said his questions for the candidates will have a consistent theme.
"We are asking them to tell us, what's your history of accomplishment and service to black people in Minnesota and, candidate, what have you done for us lately?" McFarlane said.
McFarlane submitted questions to the campaigns in advance. The issues include unemployment, homelessness and police accountability. The two-hour forum will also include audience questions.
Six candidates will participate: Betsy Hodges, Gary Schiff, Don Samuels, Cam Winton, Mark Andrew and Jackie Cherryhomes.
The election is Nov. 5, but the candidates have been eager to debate ahead of precinct caucuses on April 16. All but Winton are seeking the DFL endorsement.
