Authorities are searching for a woman who was seen using the ATM card of a 26-year-old man shortly before his body was found in Shoreview on Aug. 29.
The victim, Hagos Tsegay Melake of South St. Paul, was discovered by Ramsey County Sheriff's deputies on the 5700 block of Hamline Avenue last Thursday morning.
The Ramsey County Medical Examiner's office later found that Melake died of a gunshot wound that wasn't self-inflicted.
Melake was last seen leaving the Hunan Garden Restaurant & Bar on Cedar Street in downtown St. Paul at about 1:30 a.m. Three hours later, an unidentified woman was captured on camera using Melake's ATM card at a bank on West Broadway Avenue in Minneapolis.
"We consider her to be a person of interest in this case," said Ramsey County Sheriff's Office Public Information Officer Randy Gustafson. "We'd like to have a chance to talk to her and see what she knows about how she acquired Mr. Melake's financial card."
Police are asking that anyone who saw Melake that morning or can identify the woman in the video contact the Ramsey County Sheriff's Office at (651) 266-7320.
