When it comes to the freight trains that run along part of the proposed Southwest light rail line, Minneapolis and St. Louis Park don't agree on much.
Both cities want the light rail project to go forward, but neither one wants to be stuck with the freight traffic.
The polarization has become so intense that a draft of the Minneapolis City Council resolution approved today drew a point-by-point refutation from Safety in the Park, a St. Louis Park citizen's group.
In fairness, the two sides do agree on a few factual matters, including that Minneapolis has lakes.
The resolution approved today was less strident than the draft version. Minneapolis didn't explicitly vow to nix the project if the freight trains stay where they are, but it reiterated its opposition.
But it's doubtful that will end the standoff between the two cities.
