Minnesota Democrats formally gave their backing to Gov. Mark Dayton's re-election bid at their state convention today in Duluth.
In accepting the endorsement Dayton recited a list of his accomplishments over the past three and a half years, including a tax increase on the state's top earners, the legalization of same-sex marriage and a minimum wage increase.
Dayton also talked about his hopes for the next four years.
"We're going to make Minnesota the best place to live, the best place to marry the person you love, the best place to raise a family," he said. "We're going to make Minnesota best place to start a business, grow a business or go to work for a business."
Dayton told the DFL convention that it's "critical" that Democrats retain control of the state House.
Following his speech Dayton told reporters he would seek to further fund education and transportation projects if he's elected to a second term.
