Threat for severe storms, mainly late afternoon and evening

A few rogue showers and thunderstorms may  roam Minnesota through early afternoon, but the chance for strong to severe storms is most likely later in the day and into tonight.  You'll want to keep sky aware for the potential for severe storms.

From the Storm Prediction Center; they have outlined the risk for tornadoes that is most likely in southern Minnesota.

Locally heavy rainfall is also possible with these storms as they track east in the nighttime hours.

The Twin Cities National Weather Service Office has posted this forecast for the Metro Area for tonight:

Showers and thunderstorms, mainly before 3am. Some of the storms could be severe and produce heavy rainfall. Low around 67. South wind 5 to 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New rainfall amounts between three quarters and one inch possible.

Conditions are expected to be very changeable this afternoon. There will likely be a period of dry weather, but  stay alert for strong to severe storms later today.
