Officials at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport are making plans to additional parking ramps, better security lines and an on-site hotel.
Metropolitan Airports Commission chief executive Jeff Hamiel says many of the changes would happen in 2016, pending board approval.
Airport spokeswoman Melissa Scovronski tells the St. Paul Pioneer Press that three additional gates are planned for Terminal 2 because of the growth of Spirit and Sun Country airlines.
Parking ramps at Terminal 1 regularly hit capacity. So, airport officials are searching for more space. One or two additional parking ramps are under discussion for the near future.
Planners are also looking to consolidate security checkpoints into two main, larger screening sites with additional staff.
