Pete Docter accepted the Oscar for best animated feature film for "Up" at the 82nd Academy Awards in March 2010.

Pete Docter says movies are art, and all art is storytelling. He believes art is as essential as breathing and eating.

The Minnesota native is a writer, director and animator at Pixar Studios. His film "Up" was nominated for six Academy Awards and won for Best Animated Feature Film. His new movie is "Inside Out."

Docter was a featured speaker at the Westminster Town Hall Forum in Minneapolis, Monday, Sept. 28, 2015.
