Today's Morning Edition music is from Steve Goodman and jubilant Chicago Cubs fans singing "Go Cubs Go."
It was a song heard all night long in the streets of Chicago after the Cubs won their first baseball championship since 1908. They beat Cleveland 8-7 in an epic 10-inning seventh game of the World Series.
Goodman, who was a lifelong Cubs fan, also wrote "A Dying Cub Fan's Last Request" after he was diagnosed with leukemia. He died in 1984 at the age of 36.
Goodman wrote this song at the request of the program director at radio station WGN. It was originally used in WGN promotions, but in recent years became the post-game victory song after a Cubs win.
