Today's Morning Edition music is from Iggy and the Stooges with "1969," which was released that year on their debut album.

Iggy Pop during his time with the Stooges is the subject of a new movie called "Gimme Danger," which opens Friday at the Lagoon Theater in Minneapolis. It looks and sounds unlike like many of the other rock and roll documentaries because it was created by the avant garde director Jim Jarmusch.

In it, Iggy shares several anecdotes including his philosophy that no song should contain more than 25 words. He says that it was based on a policy from the old "Soupy Sales" kids TV show. Soupy would not read a letter on the air unless it was less than 25 words long.
